To Paradise!

There are many roads that lead to the Seawall Motel…some longer, some shorter, some scenic, some are more direct. Many of our guests want the most direct route, which is Option #1. If you want a bit more scenic route try Option #2.

Option #1

Take Route I-95 North to Exit 44 in Portland. Continue on I-295 North which rejoins I-95 near Augusta. Follow I-95 to Bangor Exit 182A, to Route I-395 around Bangor. Follow this about 2 miles to Route 1A toward Ellsworth and Mt. Desert Island. About 5 miles past Ellsworth you will go across a causeway onto Mt. Desert Island. The road splits, with Route 3 going to the left toward Bar Harbor and Route 102 going to Southwest Harbor on the right. (About 5 miles later you will enter the quaint little town of Somesville. The 25mph speed limit applies all the way through town and is enforced.) There is a blinking yellow light in the center of Southwest Harbor. 0.6 miles after that turn left onto 102A (Seawall Road). We are 2 ½ miles later on your right. Welcome!!

Option #2

Take Route I-95 North to Exit 44 in Portland. Continue on I-295 North which rejoins I-95 near Augusta. Take Augusta Exit 113 to Route #3, through Belfast, Searsport, Bucksport and Ellsworth. (If time permits, enjoy Fort Knox and the observatory on the Bucksport Bridge.) Turn right at the 2nd light in Ellsworth, on to Route #3 & #1. Welcome!!

Route #1 can be very pretty, but will be very slow and crowded, especially in July and August.
